Live & Learn

(HAVEN'T UPDATED THIS YET )

long term stays

We offer a forest space & yurt to groups who wish to partake of the farm environment while managing their own group or retreat as they like. We can integrate a little or a lot, depending on your group dynamic. This includes farm lodging but for larger groups, there are other accommodations on the island, but also camping in tents is an option too.

Retreats that work well on our farm (which you would facilitate & we would host):
  • yoga/meditation/wellness
  • addictions recovery
  • PTSD, trauma
  • alternative therapy
  • nature/agriculture
  • arts
Teachings that we can integrate into your experience:
  • a specific number of daily/weekly farm work hours (under supervision & instruction, consisting of tasks such as: weeding, seeding, harvesting, transplanting, pruning, feeding animals, milking, egg collection, watering etc).
  • There are season specific activities, which could be canning, building, removing, irrigating, birthing, etc.
  • Other activities could include: cheese-making, infusions, pottery, repairing, installing.
We have many people on our farm, and someone always needs a hand and everyone likes to pass on their knowledge. We host researchers in agriculture & green technology and these folks will often give demonstrations as well.

Residences

We offer a variety of cottages for long term stay and we do set aside blocks specifically for therapy retreats. We have different conditions based on the season, occupancy, group, and whether you are enrolled in our programs or one hosted by one of our partners.
"The small farm is a dying anachronism in our age, but it is here that some of us are taking a rebel stand, returning to the traditional knowledge that grew good food for thousands of years."
Brian Brett - Trauma Farm, 2009 Greystone Books

We acknowledge that we live, work, and play on the stolen, ancestral and traditional territories of the Straits Salish peoples on the Island called S,ḴŦAḴ in SENĆOŦEN, the language of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples.

The name "Tsi Tesakotitsén:tha” was given to us by a Tuscarora Elder who has known Susheela since 1986 in Kahnawake (Kanien’kehá:ka Mohawk territory) and suggested we create the space for “The Place That Heals You”. The Kanien'kehá:ka spelling was provided to us by a dear friend who still lives in Kahnawake. We are honoured to use the name and would also welcome a SENĆOŦEN translation of the name to respect the land we’re on and the language of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples.
