Tallow has been used for centuries in traditional skincare, soap-making, and healing salves, most commonly rendered from beef, bison, or sheep fat. Our Fallow Tallow is derived from wild fallow deer harvested on Mayne Island and refined by hand in small batches. Compared to beef or mutton tallow, fallow deer fat produces a finer, lighter-textured tallow with a clean, mild scent and faster absorption, making it exceptionally suited for skin care. 


Naturally rich in vitamins A, D, and E and essential fatty acids, it closely resembles the lipids in human skin, allowing it to restore moisture, soothe irritation, and strengthen the skin’s natural barrier. Used for generations in traditional medicine, tallow supports healing and protection, and our fallow tallow salves continue that proven tradition with a local, sustainable source.


  1. The Aloe-Rosehip is a gentle, all-purpose salve for irritated, dry, or sensitive skin. Aloe soothes, while rosehip supports healing and reduces redness. Ideal for everyday skin care and minor skin issues.
  2. Frankincense-Sandalwood is a grounding blend for anti-aging and tension relief. Frankincense helps reduce fine lines and improve tone, while sandalwood soothes inflammation. Perfect for softening mature or stressed skin.
  3. Our most intensive formula for extremely dry or damaged skin. Calendula-Chamomile calms and repairs, making this salve great for cracked heels, rough hands, and sensitive skin types.
